Composite Wood
Siding
Choosing a
type of siding for the exterior of your home can be a difficult
decision. There are many styles and materials to choose from,
whether you prefer wood siding, aluminum, vinyl, or even
composite wood siding. Composite wood siding (also called
engineered wood siding) has become a popular choice, as it
provides the beauty of wood siding with the lower maintenance
typically found in vinyl or aluminum types of
siding.
Composite
wood siding is made from engineered wood. Some of the types of
composite wood are OSB (oriented strand board), hardboards, and
veneered plywood siding. The composite wood siding boards will
nearly exactly mimic the look of true wood boards, except for
the fact that the grain is completely uniform and close
inspection may reveal that it is not natural
wood.
Composite
wood siding is thought by many to be more environmentally
friendly than some other types of exterior wood siding, as it
is often made from a variety of wood and wood products that are
not able to be used for other products. Additionally, the lower
maintenance required (it rarely, if ever, needs repainting or
staining) makes it a popular choice for many of today’s frugal
and busy homeowners.
