Plywood
Siding
Plywood
siding is a type of siding that has been popular for decades.
This type of siding comes in many styles and patterns,
including thin grooves, wide grooves, and plank textured
boards. Plywood siding remains a good choice because of the
wide variety of designs, the cost (it is often quite economical
to use), and the comparatively easy installation (as opposed to
some other types of siding).
Plywood
siding can be manufactured from many different types of wood,
including cedar, fir, redwood, and several types of veneers.
Typically, plywood siding comes in large sheets, up to 8 feet
wide, and is prefinished in the desired
color.
When
properly maintained, plywood siding is extremely durable and
offers tremendous longevity. It will require regular staining
or painting, approximately every four years, but with this
level of care it will be likely to last for decades. Plywood
siding is thought to be somewhat more high-maintenance than
other types of wood siding, but this is generally because if
one piece rots or cracks, there is a larger area that needs to
be repaired—wood siding that comes in planks will only require
one or two planks be replaced, making repairs a bit less
intensive.
